I prefer to believe the former.

Perhaps it'll be easier for you to make up your mind after you've read Lizard Music. I'm very happy to have convinced you to read it!Samhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09492841891625994218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7046320545497573335.post-60244497465651186742009-01-13T18:39:00.000-05:002009-01-13T18:39:00.000-05:00I sort of wish that you, and the commenter who als...I sort of wish that you, and the commenter who also took the quote seriously, would refrain from reading Lizard Music. As to perpetuating bad books, I currently receive about 2,000 new review copies of children's books each year in connection with a part-time job I have. All of them wind up donated to local schools and libraries. At the moment of handing over half these books, I have to make a forcible effort to believe that there will be children in such marginal condition that contact with the books will somehow benefit them...the old stupid excuse I hear made for certain popular series, "as long as they're reading." Would they say, "as long as they're getting nutrition," if they were eating their baby siblings?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7046320545497573335.post-41713533034421075862009-01-13T14:27:00.000-05:002009-01-13T14:27:00.000-05:00Interesting post. I find that some of what I loved as a child I am unimpressed with as an adult. I guess it stands to reason. I've been thinking about your beloved children's book query and I just couldn't choose ONE.

I think Pippi Longstocking may be one of the best. I really did like Holes and the Invention of Hugo Cabret -- still, as you pointed out, everyone is different. I thought Walk Two Moons was great and Maniac Magee is one of my favorites! Do you see what I mean?

I hope you enjoy Lizard Music--that's one I have not read.Carmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08513120694616841370noreply@blogger.com
